Sightseeing
Schleswig is the right place to use as a base for exploring the North of Germany. And the Danish border isn't far away either. Only a 30 mins ride up north on the A7. Schleswig lies in the middle between the North and the Baltic Sea, each within reach by car in about 30 mins. The city, the harbour, the shore promenade as well as the museums are only a stone throw away from our Hotel. The river Schlei is almost in front of our doorsteps, our very populartheatre only 5 mins walking away. The famous Schloss Gottorf can easily be reached on foot in 10 minutes. Also only 10 mins walking from the Hotel is the "Schleswiger Dom" with its world famous Brüggemann altar. It is also worth while to visit the wiking museum "Haithabu", opened in 1985. It is part of the Schleswig-Heritage, dedicated to the history and archeology of the settlement "Haithabu". It is close to the historical place which was once one of the important settlements in the North of Europe. Furthermore, Schleswig offeres a variety of events, for instance: Swinging City Wiking days Rübentage Most popular is the local "Schützenfest" with 3 different teams, shooting out their champion shot. We keep a number of leaflets in our hotel for our guests with information on different places of interest. Apart from the town of Schleswig, there are quite a few other places of interest in Schleswig Holstein. Flensburg for instance, Kappeln, Husum or Eckernförde with its lovely long beach or the leisure park "Tolkschau" in Tolk and not to forget the very interestingGolf Course in Altenhof near Eckernförde.
